West Chicago Public Library District
Main Program Room

Event Details

From a lucky chance discovery at the bottom of an abandoned fox hole in Papua New Guinea during WWII to becoming a famous entertainer, a decorated war hero and the world’s first official Therapy Dog of record Smoky’s story is nothing short of amazing. After being rescued in the jungle she went on to be named the number one mascot in the South Pacific, she earned eight battle stars for her bravery and the lives she saved, and she was the dog that inspired the creation of today’s therapy dog programs. Now professional public speaker and skilled story teller Adrian Brigham, along with his wife, recording artist Denise Brigham, are bringing this story to schools, veterans organizations, pet events and other groups so that you too can learn that all dogs have possibilities and that our heroes and veterans can also have four paws and wet noses.
