The West Chicago Public Library District “Food for Fines” amnesty period begins Wednesday, November 1 and ends Wednesday, November 22, 2017. During this period, the Library will accept donations of non-perishable canned or boxed food (expired food, damaged or open items will not be accepted) in payment of overdue fines . One item will equal $1 in fines forgiven, up to a maximum of $10 per card. Cardholders with collection agency accounts may participate after paying the $10 collection agency account fee. All materials must be returned before the fines can be waived. While food items cannot be applied to charges for lost/damaged materials or collection agency fees, patrons without overdue fines are also encouraged to donate.
All proceeds from the program will benefit the Neighborhood Food Pantries, a Northern Illinois Food Bank collection site located at 525 North Neltnor Boulevard in West Chicago. More information may be obtained by calling the Circulation Department at 630-231-1552 x2
