Event Details

As part of the “Year of the Alebrijes” celebration, the City of West Chicago’s Cultural Arts Commission and the West Chicago Public Library District are hosting a series of open house crafting workshops to help community residents create their own personal “Portal to a Dream World.” Residents can drop in to a session and pick up a “to-go kit” then begin the process of making a unique door wreath that captures the essence of the alebrijes for display at their homes. Artists will be on hand to explain the idea behind the project and assist with creating a wreath that is unique and meaningful to each participant. This program requires no previous crafting experience and is a fun, easy activity for everyone to enjoy. All basic supplies are free, and have been provided by the City of West Chicago.

Please contact cultural@westchicago.org for questions about the program, and visit westchicago.org/alebrijes for more information about the “Year of the Alebrijes” community initiative.
